We are excited to announce a new call for internships! We have a number of opportunities available, with start time in spring 2017. We now encourage interested PhD students to read through the internship call and make their applications before the deadline 22 February 2017. Details for all opportunities can be found in the downloads below (please note: these will in most cases be downloaded to a download folder on your computer or device and might not launch automatically).

Internships at the Scottish Government

Internships at Healthcare Improvement Scotland

Internships: general

Our internships present opportunities to work outside the topic area of a student’s PhD to develop a range of transferable skills, enhance employability and provide the experience of working within a public sector organisation.

We offer a range of different internship opportunities open to doctoral students in Scotland. Contact details for queries relating to each internship is displayed with the calls; some of these we only advertise and some of them are our own.

Please note that not all internships are open to all categories of students so please read any posted instructions carefully and make contact as per each description if in doubt. All opportunities are full time only.

Our video shows how an internship works both for the student who undertakes it as well as the internship provider and the supervisor.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the scheme and UKBA regulations, students on a Tier 4 visa are not eligible to apply.

Students (present and prospective) undertaking an internship may wish to refer to the Additional Information Document for details regarding expenses, withdrawls, etc.
