The Scottish Doctoral Colloquium in Accounting and Finance (ScotDoc) has been a core element of doctoral training in accounting and finance in Scotland for the past 16 years. The event will run over one day and include a mix of student presentations and three plenary sessions from staff members. The event will provide postgraduate students with the opportunity to present their work and receive feedback from experienced researchers in the area. Each student will have 15 minutes for presentations and around 5-10 minutes for discussion.

The first plenary session will be delivered by Dr Sarah Smith, Senior Lecturer in Accounting, (University of Stirling) who will present results of a research project funded by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS) on the key aspects of PhD supervisory process, views/experience of students and supervisors. The second plenary session will be delivered by two recently appointed lecturers [Dr Lazaros Symeonidis, Lecturer in Finance (University of Stirling) and Dr Shona Russell, Lecturer in Knowledge and Practice (St. Andrews University)]. The colleagues will share with current PhD students their experiences and challenges from the transition from PhD to a lectureship. The third plenary session will be delivered by Professor Alan Goodacre, Professor of Accounting and Finance, (University of Stirling) who will discuss the challenges of publishing from the PhD thesis.
