The Scottish Graduate School of Social Science welcomes postgraduate research students to the following doctoral training event, organised by the Education Pathway.

Course content: This workshop will introduce multiple linear regression and logistic regression techniques of data analysis and provide examples of their application in education research. It will involve lectures as well as practical training. This workshop is designed for PhD students who use or will be using secondary data analysis in their research. Participants can bring their own data for the practical training.

Workshop structure: presentations and practical training.

Course Requirements: Participation in this workshop requires prior knowledge of descriptive statistics and simple linear regression analysis and familiarity with SPSS.

Preliminary Reading: Tarling R. (2009) Statistical modelling for social researchers, London: Routledge. Chapters 4 and 5.
