A workshop exploring the ways in which research can make an impact, how to plan impact into your research, and how to engage successfully with the media as part of your impact strategy. The workshop will include short presentations and interactive discussions on the nature and scope for research impact, led by senior researchers in information and communications research. In the media element of the workshop participants will be taken through the experience of being interviewed by a journalist about their own research. This part of the workshop will be led by an experienced journalist and documentary maker who has worked in radio and television for over 20 years, both with main BBC channels as well as more local media. Prior to the workshop participants will be asked to submit a short (100 words) outline of their research, written for a lay audience.
