Internships 2018 - Summer call now closed...

We are excited to announce our new call for internships. We have a number of opportunities available, starting from September 2018 onwards. We now encourage interested 2nd and 3rd year PhD students to read through the internship call and make their applications before the deadline at 5pm on 30 July 2018.

Details for all opportunities can be found below:

Our internships present opportunities to work outside the topic area of a student’s PhD to develop a range of transferable skills, enhance employability and provide the experience of working within a public sector organisation.

“The internship has changed my perspective on future career plans. I now understand that there are other environments where you can utilise your research skills outside academia. I’ve really enjoyed working in government and would now definitely consider this as a good option for a future career.” – PhD Intern with Scottish Government

We offer a range of different internship opportunities open to doctoral students in Scotland. Contact details for queries relating to each internship is displayed with the calls.

All opportunities are three months’ full time work. Please note that not all internships are open to all categories of students so please read any posted instructions carefully and make contact as per each description if in doubt. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the scheme and UKBA regulations, students on a Tier 4 visa are not eligible to apply.

For more information about the scheme, please see our Frequently Asked Questions. If you still have questions, you can email internships@socsciscotland.ac.uk.
